Pat Obama on the back while you're at it. HE is the one who lost Boucher his seat. Are you not seeing the point tonight that anyone too close to Obama lost tonight? "I love Rick Boucher" did him in.

Many times in the past you and I have disagreed, but not on this. We won't even see this character you can believe that. I owe Mr. Boucher a debt of gratitude. Were it not for him,my family may not be fed,as it was he who really pushed the hardest to bring jobs to our area by building ROSP/WRSP-not to mention so many other jobs and technological advances that he is responsible for. BTW guys I am a registered Republican,so it has never been a vote for the party deal when it came to Boucher. Give this a year or so R13 and see if the folks who put this stranger in office are still smiling. Go ahead and bookmark this post/thread guys and see who is right a year from now:(
Why is it whenever a Republican has an opinion that is conceived by a Democrat as wrong they are uneducated, don't know what they're talking about redneck, racist hicks, but whenever a Democrat is wrong...oh wait Democrats are never wrong.
Boucher may have done a lot in this area but whose to say that Griffith won't do the same thing over the next 30 years? It's not like he's going to purposely try and screw us over. His party is in power in the House, so that will help out a lot. Boucher has been lucky to keep the seat for as long as he has in this largely conservative area. People around here do not like big government wanting to control everything and that showed tonight. Boucher has placed his support behind Obama on important issues that people around here have followed and that is why he lost tonight. I think it was time for him to go anyway. I fully support a term limit for Congress and am unsure why there isn't one. Griffith has the experience for this job as he has been in the state House of Delegates for the past 15 years, serving as the House majority leader for the past 10. I believe he was elected because people did know his experience and who he was. The majority of people did not go to the polls and blindly vote without knowing who they were voting for. I am sure some people did that, but MANY people did that two years ago as well. Boucher did do a lot for this area and I did vote for him in the past, but when he threw all of his support behind Obama two years ago even though this area largely supported Hilary Clinton in the primary I knew it was time for him to go. Obama's policies and the following he has from the Democrats in Congress are the reason for the Republican takeover in the House. He can either see this and move more toward the center or face the same fate in 2012.
Hey R13, ever consider that you cost Boucher his seat. After I found out you were helping ole Rick out, well that sealed it for me. LoL. Three cheers for R13. If you dont care help Obama out next go around.
Dumbassery is what lost him his seat, a massive amount of it here in this area was proven last night. Instead of people actually making an informed vote, they watched those attack ads, the listened to the lies from Griffith, they took those mailings too seriously. If they had half of a brain that when a President "loves you", that equals great things for your district - lots of money and help. Of course common sense wasn't used with that and logic didn't win over.
Man you can be from any party and see what Boucher has done and what kind of shape SWVA is going to be in. I've met many he's helped, he helped my grandmother get her disability back in 1990. I've met many others that he has helped just like that, then talking to people making calls and the ones that asked for help at the events I worked and him personally taking down their number right their and was in the process of helping them right now...that's going to be passed off to a guy who doesn't care one bit about our part of SWVA, what's going to happen to those people? I'll probably end up switching to an out of state university, the funding for MECC and UVAW will go to hell now.
People can write off what I said because "I'm just a dem that is just ****ed my guy lost". But I've got to know this man, I've met the people he's helped, I've seen him help others, I've seen an honest and geniune politician that cares for his area - which is hardly the case, just an all-around classy person who didn't stoop to his opponents level which cost him his job. It doesn't take a genius to realize that we are a very rural area, that Bouchers pull and seniority in the House was desperately needed for this area. Now it's gone and we're set back decades. It's a lot deeper than "just a loss for my side", it's my education in jeopardy, my grandparents future and issues they needed help with in danger and all of these good people I've met that need help so badly right now and won't even get the time of day.
Do you actually think Griffith will be here in 30 years? They guy is a political opportunist, he used the heated political climate to beef up his rep and increase his familiarity with voters in this part of the state. He will be gone in 6 years, either being voted out or making a run at higher office. He wasn't elected because people were so familiar with him, not in this area at all, I'd bet most had never heard his name spoken before the election...most still don't know what the hell he stands for, what he said he was going to do(actual plans, not those one-lines of "small gov" that every tom, **** and harry in the GOP) because he never said what he was going to do. Not a doubt in mind that majority went in there blindly and voted for him, that's the most logical explanation and that's is my experience with that bunch. There was no logical reason to vote for him or against Boucher really, whether he's helped you personally, helped your family or someone you know, or you use what he has brought to the area everyday - everyone of you have. It was just the same basis hate for Obama, though they really don't know why, it's ridiculous.
Most votes around here were against Cap and Trade, only because they either didn't understand what Boucher did, didn't take the time to look it up and listened to this misleading Griffith campaign. Even if they did understand what he did for the coal industry with that bill, it's just stupid to vote based on it, what the **** would a freshman congressman do with a bill that's in the Senate now?
I don't think like a dumbass, so no. I'm sure a simple-minded guy such as yourself would base an entire vote on something so dumb like that, joking or not, you probably would do something like that.
So what lies were told that cost Boucher his seat? And it needs to actually be a lie, something I can research and say "Griffith told an outright lie". IMO "attack ads" or "negative campaigning" isn't negative if the truth is told.Quote:

The "he co-wrote the cap and trade bill" = lie. The claim that there has been a net loss of 10k jobs since he took office = lie. The "votes with Obama 96% of the time" = lie. That Griffith can somehow stop the cap and trade legislation = lie. Just to name a few.
To sit here and say he didn't run strictly on a negative campaign or use attack ads, is completely ridiculous. Boucher never stooped to his level, which cost him, the yelling of his misleading campaign drowned out common sense and the truth.
So Boucher never used/approve negative campaining?
I did not vote only because of the massive amount of mudslinging going on. It got way out of hand up here with Rand Paul and Jack Conway. If they want to act like school children, they dont deserve my vote.
And I'm sorry, anyone who thinks losing Rick Boucher would be good for SWVA, well, you're a frakking idiot.
